90 degree pushups – low

by Sam on February 21, 2012

What to do after handstand pushups? Here’s a start – 90 degree pushups. They were feeling good this week. Here I’ve clustered 3 together (~10 sec rest between each). I am working to get low enough until I eventually get down to a back lever-like position and then pull back up to the handstand. And to preemptively answer the common questions – 5’7″ 77Kg 120Kg 1 million years Thank you. -Jim

I do have one question, only looking for a small hint of advice. I’ve been really trying to get my handstand done right, and i’ve been throwing myself up against a wall for quite some time, and then moving my feet away from the wall, and i can only hold that for a second or two until i fall backwards, even trying to push the weight to the front of my hands. I read your beastskills page religiously too, any help to really keep the balance?

@BeastSkills Right on. I hope to one day attempt a skill such as this.

@Zanjistic With the greater range of motion, I’d say yes. This is what I’m going for!

@eamh2002 No. I’ve done 300 lbs in the past (see my powerlifting video), but I have not worked the lift in some time.

Have you tried your max bench press recently? If you have, how much can you press? :p

@nugety Easily… PVC pipes are pretty strong. I have similar parallettes. They really don’t even flex.

Is this harder than on ground?

How much can you bench?…………Just playin! This is like a handstand planch pushup. Very cool. I had some paralettes made recently and am working just on stabilizing myself in a tucked handstand…I’ll get there someday!
